A buyer is waiting. The stock is there. The supplier needs the balance in two days.
A TU H grade can hold up a bank application, but it does not erase a business’s cash flow, transaction background, assets or repayment source. For SMEs with a real trading case, a private fund can be the primary route when a bank cannot take up the case immediately. Second-tier finance is a supporting route, not the only door left open.
An anonymised SME Island jewellery-and-jade trading client secured a HK$2 million supply opportunity with a high minimum order quantity and a buyer waiting. Delivery was due three days after the order, but the buyer would pay by T/T only after 45 days. After the deposit, the client still faced a HK$1 million balance gap. With two days left, the client could not sleep for replaying one thought: the balance was due the day after tomorrow. The transaction papers were not yet in order and the bank could not move immediately.
Time was the only enemy. SME Island reviewed the order, delivery date, T/T receipt cycle, supplier payment date and company cash flow; then structured the proposal and matched a private fund. The HK$1 million gap was arranged within two days, allowing delivery and resale to proceed while awaiting the 45-day receipt. About three months later, after repayment on schedule and subject to the original arrangement and then-current terms, a second HK$1 million draw supported another transaction. After repayment and work on TU, cash-flow records and documents, the client was assisted to revisit a bank SME loan. This is one client case, not a promise of funding, timing, pricing or outcome.
SME Island states that it has five exclusive private funds available for matching, with second-tier finance considered where appropriate. Fund cases are first assessed through cash flow, transaction background, assets and repayment sources, rather than treating TU as the sole entry point. Individual eligible second-tier-finance matches can reach HK$2 million. Each funder makes its own decision on funding and terms.
For certain cases, private-fund pricing can sit above bank funding and below second-tier finance. Review total cost, fees, security, repayment dates, early repayment and default consequences in the written quotation. “As fast as two days” is the quickest experience of an eligible case, not a service deadline.
